Security predictions for 2009

by John Evelyn on March 5, 2009

Oops!! “Never make predictions, especially about the future.” It’s good advice. All my past efforts at making predictions about IT security have not been too accurate.

However, IT Pro have stuck their neck out for me. Their top 10 security predictions for 2009 are:

  1. Malware 2.0
  2. An explosion in new malware variants and web threats
  3. Social networking spam
  4. More legitimate website hacking
  5. Unemployment creates more cybercriminals
  6. Security budgets unlikely to grow
  7. Mobile computing hacks
  8. A new generation of botnets
  9. Cyber hacking on virtual worlds
  10. Reputation hijacking flourishes

As if you didn’t have enough to worry about already.
