Yes, I was a victim of online banking fraud. I gave my details like sort code and account number + copy of my passport to my new “internet employer” and 1 day later my account was blocked by the bank – Lloyds – I went to one branch and I was told my account will be closed and can take my money back, but they don’t want me any more for client. The bank didn’t tell me why – I told them my story and that’s it. Two months later I received a letter from the bank that my account will be closed (funny, because I wasn’t their client) Someone tried to take money from the account, but he couldn’t. I will not give my details never ever!
I have been victim of an online fraud. We wanted to rent an apartment in Paris for 5 days and read a promising offer in craigslist Paris by a company called City Apartment Manage with an office in London. A down payment and security deposit was demanded, a Western Union transaction was offered. We declined asking for a proper bank account. This was given to us the following day. It was a private account in London (we are in Germany, Berlin). I was hesitant but made the payment nonetheless. As soon as I had sent the confirmation of payment the company (never giving a name!) told me to withdraw the money due to a transaction problem. I tried to withdraw the money, to no avail. Upon calling the company (they had given a false London pre code on their official looking website) I spoke to a person with foreign accent who claimed the account I had paid money into was not an account of their company and my booking could not be made. As I spoke of taking legal advice they hanged up on me.
I have been stupid and lost 300 Euros. I am afraid to trust any of the “commercial”, promising apartment ads in craigslist. Plus I am afraid I might get robbed in the end since I gave out my private address to the scammers when I confirmed the booking.
I have been a victim twice now. The first one was a mobile phone company claiming £8 from my bank account. I did get it back. The lastest was someone or some company trying to get £500 from my paypal account. Thank god i dont have that kind of funds(being a senior citizen) It incurred a bank charge of £15, which at the moment is still in dispute,as to who pays me back the £15. I think is should be paypal, as their site is supposed to be secure, makes me wonder now!!!!!
I have also been a victim of on line fruad back in june i bought (or so i thought )two tickets for a george micheal concert for this month (november ) my tickets have not arrived and the company keeps asking me to sign an email that they keep sending me which i have been advised by trading standards not to sign i paid over £300 pounds for these tickets pluss a shipping bill these people should not be allowed to be still on here advertising ticket sales as i am not the only one to have been scamed by them they are ruthless scamming innocent people
I’ve been victim of a strange kind of online fraud.
Being interested in rock music I contacted http://www.rockmusicmemorabilia.com to buy some memorabilia of the Knebworth Festival in 1974. I asked them about the quality of the recondings they were selling and they replied they were soundboard recordings, being that the best quality possible of a live recordings. I bought the entire set plus the T-shirt for 77 euros, that I paid the 8th of august.
On the 17th of august I received the tracking details fo the shipment, but in the next two weeks nothing happened. I asked them what was happening and the answers were always vague.
The packaging arrived after one month (the 6th of september) but there was no t-shirt and the recordings were absolutely not “soundboard recordings”.
I complained and I was told that the t-shirt had been sent separately (why?) and should’ve been here soon.
After three months I still haven’t received it.
I sent almost thirty mails without answer, and it’s not possible to get in touch by phone.
Take care!
Gigi
I think this is a very good site
